ICCUB pre-doctoral researchers Mar Carretero and Óscar Jiménez will be offering a talk on Visible and High Energy Astrophysics at the Encontres amb el 3r Cicle:
THE HIGHEST ENERGIES IN THE UNIVERSE - By Mar Carretero (ICCUB)
What are the highest energies that have been found in the Universe? What type of sources are capable of generating these energies? We delve into high-energy astrophysics and how we are observing these sources from one of the best observatories in the world: the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, on the Canary Island of La Palma.
OBSERVING THE UNIVERSE WITH OUR EYES - By Óscar Jiménez (ICCUB)
Our sight is only sensitive to visible light, a very small window of the entire electromagnetic spectrum. We could ask ourselves, what information can we extract from the Universe if we observe it only through this prism? We will explain the benefits (and limitations) of doing research observing only the visible part of the cosmos.
