How small are we in the Universe? The ICCUB PhD student Toni Bertólez invites us to reflect on this question while taking us for a walk down Cosmology’s history lane
TALK: «HOW SMALL ARE WE IN THE UNIVERSE? A BRIEF WALK ON COSMOLOGY’S HISTORY LANE»
In this talk, I will try to create a mental picture of how small we are in the Universe, through the history of Cosmology. Starting with the distance between the Earth and the Moon, we will reach the largest distances we know and we will ask ourselves if the Universe is infinite. Mid-way, we will see the discovery of how to measure the distance to the stars by using parallaxes and the discovery of extragalactic stars.
When? Friday, March 25 at 7 PM
Where? Cal Forner, Castellcir
