The director of the ICCUB, Xavier Luri, will participate in the astronomical observation of the moon next Friday, July 16, at the La Verneda quarter within the On The Moon Again worldwide initiative. This project invites people to take the dust off their telescopes and do a collective simultaneos observation all around the globe during the days 16, 17 and 18 of July to commemorate the mankind's first steps in our satellite.

This is the second time that the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the UB has participated in the activity, since two ICCUB researchers, Eduard Masana and Lola Balaguer, collaborated in the 2019 edition that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the arrival of mankind to the moon. In Barcelona, the event will take place at the La Palmera square in the quarter of La Verneda from 20 to 00h aproximately. The organizing committee will provide hand sanitizer gel and paper towels to disinfect the instruments after each individual observation and help guarantee the safety of all the participants.

This activity invites the old and the yound to enjoy astronomy in good company, wether you own a telescope or not. If you want to check out the astronomical observations that will happen, the user guide or astronomical materials, check the On the Moon Again website!
