The Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the UB is participating for the second time in the Matinal Astronòmica of  Les Franqueses del Vallès with the workshop “3D Constellations and Virtual Walk through the Galaxy with Gaia”. This activity is part of the 2022 edition of the Science February organised by the Public Library Bellavista.

Here you can read all the details of the event:

WORKSHOP: «3D CONSTELLATIONS AND VIRTUAL WALK THROUGH DE GALAXY WITH GAIA»

One of the most characteristic constellations of our sky is Orion. In this workshop you will build a model of Orion in three dimensions considering the position and distance among each of its stars. Afterwards you will enjoy a walk through the Milky Way with the help of the Gaia Satellite and discover how Orion appears from different points of view.

By Eduard Masana (ICCUB-IEEC), Óscar Jiménez (ICCUB-IEEC) and Javier Rodríguez (Condensed Matter Physics Department, UB)

When? Saturday, February 5, from 10 am to 1 pm

Where? Plaça Major de Bellavista (Les Franqueses del Vallès)

Breu guia d'observació del cel
That's a guide to help us to discover the sky that we could observe from our latitudes through the year. We could recognise the most caracteristic constellations and the most remarkable objects like double stars, stellar clusters, galaxies, etc.  What's more, it contains information about the moon phases and the visibility of the planets.
