J.I. Latorre, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the UB and researcher at the ICCUB, make today the debut in his brand new science section  Amb Q de Quàntic in the programme  Aquí, amb Josep Cuní from SER Catalunya Radio. In this first broadcasting J.I. Latorre talks about quantum computing with A. Cervera, PhD student at the ICCUB, and J.

The Particle Physics Workshop participates at the 1st Biennal Ciutat i Ciència to be held in Barcelona from February 7 to 11. The Biennial organises during five days 70 free dissemination activities distributed in the 10 districts of the city and aims to facilitate the dissemination of scientific knowledge made in Barcelona and strengthen its link with the citizens.

Alba Cervera participates with the talk 'Tecnología para manipular la naturaleza' on Quantum Computing research in "El País con tu futuro"  an event organised by El País which aims to help future degree students to choose their studies. Almost 50 speakers from different professional areas will be giving talks to 3600 students. "El País con tu futuro" is held on Thursday 18th and Wednesday 19th at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos de Madrid. 

Thanks to five successful editions, the Beamline for Schools (BL4S) competition that offers highschool students the chance to conduct a real experiment at a real research laboratory has become a very popular science competition that has so far motivated almost 10,000 students to learn about particle physics.

On or around October 31, 2018, the world will celebrate the historic hunt for the unseen—something that scientists refer to as dark matter. More than 110 global, regional, and local events were held on and around October 31, 2017 by institutions and individuals looking to engage the public in discussions about what we already know about dark matter and the many present as well as planned experiments seeking to solve its mysteries.

The 26th International Conference on Atomic Physics, ICAP 2018, was held from July 22 – 27, 2018 in Barcelona. During the conference it was organized the outreach activity "Atomic Physics: past, present and future". A Nobel prize panel with five physics Nobel prizes, covering the most important developments in the field of atomic physics.

Giovanni Passaleva, the spokesperson representing the Large Hadron Collider beauty experiment (LHCb) spoke with El País journal about the relevance, the latest findings and the goals of this promising research. 

The ICCUB researcher Alba Cervera participates in the Radio programme Versió RAC1 talking about women in science with another two women scientists.

Alba gives example and inspiration to girls in order to change the situation of some research areas as physics which still involves few women.
