The first conference on the experiences of the first year of the Faulkes Telescopes project in Catalonia was held at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Barcelona last April 14, 2023. The day, organized by the ICCUB, the IDP-UB and the coordinators of the project in Catalonia, gathered around twenty teachers from different secondary schools throughout the region.
The event counted with the participation of teachers Anicet Cosialls, Andreu Arbó and Jose Manuel Perez, who presented the experiences they had with their students as part of the project. The teachers showed how they have used astronomy in general, and the telescopes of the Faulkes Telescope Project in particular, to give context to the teaching of mathematics and physics. Finally, it was proposed to the attendees of the conference that they prepare an educational resource to be carried out with secondary school students, all using the materials presented during the conference. The activity has been recognized for the certification of 5 training hours by the IDP-UB.
