Coinciding with the Summer Solstice, on June 21st we celebrate the International Day of the Sun to remind us of the importance of the star in our lives. The sun is our largest source of energy and it allows for the existance of life in our planet, the seasons or the meteorological phenomena.

The Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the UB wants to join in this day by bringing you a public astronomical observation of our star with ICCUB-IEEC researcher Edgar Molina and in collaboration with the Centre Cívic Casa Golferichs.

ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATION: «DISCOVERING OUR KING STAR»

During this observation, we will use a telescope with solar filters, crucial in preventing eye burning, to discover the mysteries of the Sun. In physics and astronomy, H-alpha, also written Hα, is a red spectral line originated by hydrogen with a wavelenght of 6562,8 Å. In this activity, we will have the opportunity to see the emission solar spectrum corresponding to this wavelenght.

When? Postponed to Tuesday, July 19th at 5PM

Where? Centre Cívic Casa Golferichs
