The Institute of Cosmos Sciences (ICCUB) PhD student, Daniel Marín, is offering an initiation course in astrophysics and gravitation at the Casa Golferichs Community Centre. Daniel will focus on the current research on astrophysics to explain basic concepts of these disciplines and introduce us to their mysteries.

COURSE: «CASTING LIGHT ON BLACK HOLES: AN INITIATION TO ASTROPHYSICS AND GRAVITATION»

Black holes are one of the most extreme phenomena in our Universe: with their motion, they distort space-time around them; when passing in front of another star, they are able to deviate its light, and when they crash into one another, they generate more energy than could be ever used by humans. In this course, we will explore astronomy, gravitation and other areas of the physics of the cosmos through black holes. We will see cutting-edge concepts as well, such as the Big Bang, supernovas and gravitational waves.
