This course, organized by astronomers of the department of quantum physics and astrophysics and the Cosmos Science Institute of the University on Barcelona, wants to provide to everyone interested in astronomy, a basic but severe vision of the universe and its components.

Program:

  1. Astronomy, the oldest of the sciences: history, scale of the universe and instrumentation - 2 h, XL
  2. Birth and life of the stars. The solar system and other planetary systems (I)- (II) - 4h, XL
  3. The kingdoms of the dying stars: white dwarfs, neutron stars and black holes. 2 h, MR
  4. The Sun, solar activity and spatial time. 2h, BS
  5. The Milkyway: a cosmic island formed by one hundred billion stars, 2h, CJ
  6. From the galaxies to the cosmic web, 3h, AM/ES
  7. Cosmology: origin and evolution of the universe, 2h, AM/ES
  8. Life in the cosmic ocean, JMS
  9. Closing course, JMS
