COURSE: «UNDERSTANDING THE MILKY WAY: FROM THE NEAREST STARS TO THE HISTORY OF THE COSMOS»

The Milky Way is astronomy's favorite field of observation. The vast majority of objects that we can see (stars, exoplanets, nebulae...) live inside our galaxy. In this course we will discover how these celestial bodies are observed, how they are related with each other, and how they allow us to study the most unknown phenomena in the universe, from nuclear fusion to supernovae. We will focus on the latest scientific results from the James Webb telescope and the Gaia mission, among others, understanding the magnitude of their discoveries and the windows they open to the future of astronomy.
