The 4th Symposium on Space Educational Activites (SSEA2022) will take place this week (April 27 to April 29, 2022) in Barcelona.

The activity is organized by ESA's Education Office and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia - BarcelonaTech in close collaboration with the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB).

Past editions were hosted in Padova (2015), Budapest (2018) and Leicester (2019) with great success and this fourth edition will be hosted in Barcelona, at the north campus of the UPC. Anna Ferré-Mateu, a researcher of the ICCUB and an active member of the Diversity, equity and inclusion commission of the Institue (DEIC), is part of this year's Organizing Committee, being especially involved in the equity and diversity area.

The goal of the Symposium is to offer a place where educators (university students, teachers and other professionals related to the field of education) can put their experiences on the elaboration and dynamization of Space Educational Activities in common. The idea is to generate a constructive discussion that provides a global vision of the current state of Space Education and of the future path of it.

The event is also the ideal surrounding for the encouragement of collaboration and networking among the several participant sectors that form the basis of Space Education: university students, research institutions and space-related companies. In this way, synergys and the creation of new opportunities for future generations of scientists and engineers are favoured. In the last decade, Catalonia has become the perfect cradle where to develop such innovative initiatives, with the creation of the strategy New Space of the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) and the launch of the first catalan satellite in March, 2021. We must make the most of the momentum generated to make Catalonia one of the leaders of the aerospatial sector.

Throughout the event you will be able to enjoy various on-site activities of all shapes and sizes: talks, workshops, conferences, etc. all related to Space Education, as well as share socializing spaces to promote discussion among the participants.
